TMR Frugal Living Tip #14

Today's thrifty tip is use vinegar as a fabric softener. I started using about 1/4 cup with each load and have noticed that the towels and clothes are softer. They also smell fresher. Vinegar is a great way to neutralize odors. If you have dark colors that would bleed like red or purple, then soak them in a sink or basin of vinegar. It locks in the color so it won't bleed on your other items.

You know, I've heard this before but I find it hard to believe. But all right, you convinced me, next load I'm tryin' it! I've heard that apple cider vinegar supposedly makes your hair soft too...again, it's hard for me to believe, but maybe I should try that too - cheaper than conditioner, that's for sure!

Great tip! Mom Advice also mentioned using vinegar in her dishwasher as a jet-drying agent. I guess it's time to stock up on vinegar!

I am the dish washer in this house. I have read that tip and my mom uses it in her dishwasher. She says it works great.

Carol,

there are tons of uses for vinegar. I use it on my counters to clean, the sink, my floors, and many more uses. You can also use white vinegar as a hair rinse to clean off the build-up. I haven't tried that one but I hear it works great.
